Downtown Guelph City Hall Elopement | Keara & Adam

Your Ultimate City Hall Elopement Guide in Guelph, ON

Nestled in the heart of downtown Guelph, city hall has become an increasingly popular venue to make things official – and I can understand why (I may be reconsidering my own elopement plans)!

For Keara & Adam’s special day, we wanted to capture the simple and natural beauty of city hall’s space while also exploring sentimental and architectural locations in downtown Guelph. We got incredibly lucky with the weather, considering it was the first week of February, but you won’t find me complaining about that sunshine!

After about an hour of soaking up the rays, we headed to Two Faces wine bar to pop some champagne with their family members and capture some cute & cosy moments in the bar.

Take notes if you are also wanting an easy going elopement with your closest people in Downtown Guelph!

Intimate Council Chambers Ceremonies at Guelph City Hall

Guelph City Hall offers intimate ceremonies in the Council Chambers, accommodating a maximum of 20 guests. This simple yet sophisticated space features wood paneling over the walls which creates a warm mid-century modern ambiance.

The one challenge for this space is that bookings are limited and their booking window rolls out on a 3 month basis. I would recommend if you know the date or range you would like to have your ceremony, that you mark your calendar 3 months prior to secure that time slot!

Optional Reception Spaces Close to Downtown

After your ceremony at Guelph City Hall, my suggestion is to check out some of the many possible nearby venues/local businesses for your reception. Within walking distance from the City Hall, you'll find a range of options suitable for both intimate gatherings & larger parties. Here are a few of my favourites:

Two Faces: A cozy wine bar located right beside city hall! This space can easily accommodate small gatherings, they serve delicious wines, cocktails and beer, AND the owners are very open to external catering options.

Miijidaa Cafe & Bistro: A modern space with artistic flair. This restaurant offers a tasty menu & spaces that can be booked for private events.

The Ward Bar at Spring Mill Distillery: Located a little outside of the downtown core, this space is perfect for booking larger parties and events. Their specialty is craft cocktails & their atmosphere is the definition of cozy with their brick architecture and a warming fireplace.

For a more personalized experience, be sure to inquire about availability and any special packages these venues may offer for small wedding receptions.
